Midlife Shuffle

B Camera Operator · Assistant DP

A saturated green and magenta finished-film frame from Midlife Shuffle.

The film

A 2026 Snakebite short film by Northern Monkey Productions, built through a compressed local crew process and recognized by the Snakebite 5-Day Film Challenge before screening at the Okanagan Screen Awards.

The approach

James supported cinematographer Levi Price as B camera operator and assistant DP while bringing lighting, camera, wireless audio and grip resources into the production. The finished film leans into saturated practical colour and controlled interior setups made under a short-contest schedule.

Camera support

B camera and assistant-DP support under contest pressure.

A fast local short where James helped shape the camera and lighting package around Levi Price's cinematography.

Midlife Shuffle was built inside a short-contest schedule, which meant the visual plan had to move quickly from lighting setup into performance coverage.

James supported the camera department as B camera operator and assistant DP, while also bringing RED KOMODO-X, lighting, wireless audio and grip resources into the production footprint.

The result is a compact, saturated short whose festival recognition gives the support credit a clear public outcome.

Camera

RED KOMODO-X support beside Levi Price's RED KOMODO.

The camera package helped the team move through practical interiors while keeping the finished look consistent.

Lighting

Colour-forward setups in tight interiors.

James helped shape saturated room and stairwell looks that could survive the compressed production schedule.

Proof

Snakebite wins and OSA screening.

The film placed second at Snakebite 2026 and screened in the 2026 Okanagan Screen Awards program.
