The film
An ongoing four-year dance-film collaboration with The Village Dance Academy, spanning three released Sockeye films and the 2026 production.
The approach
The 2023 and 2024 films open on hands and silhouettes before revealing the full ensemble on the KFS stage. Each year uses a distinct palette and edit rhythm while staying close to the dancers' timing, formations and individual performances.

Collaboration
Four production years, one growing collaboration.
Each film gives the Sockeye choreography its own opening image and colour palette, from the many-armed amber silhouette of 2023 to the red diagonals of 2024 and green haze of 2025.
James directed, photographed and edited the released series around the ensemble's formations, timing and individual performances, with the collaboration continuing into its 2026 production.
